I had this little beauty out yesterday, testing the Deal Extreme 2212/6 2700 Kv motor and RC Timer 6x3x3 carbon prop.
It didn't let me down :) After watching some of my older videos of planes using this motor and the 6x3 EMP prop, I would say the two bladed prop setup is a little faster, but as John Wayne once said, "I wouldn't want to live on the difference".
The advantage of the 6x3x3 carbon prop is that it pulls about 7% less amps, 33.6A compared to 36.1A with the 6x3 EMP two bladed prop and after the flight there is a little bit more "gas" left in the battery by comparison, maybe about 5%. So these are not huge numbers mind you and I won't be looking to lengthen my flights any, but long term, it should be a little easier on all my components, motor, ESC and batteries. So for these reasons, I will continue to use this prop for awhile with this motor.
With such stiff and strong blades, it provides very linear acceleration, maybe a tiny little less "pop" than the two bladed prop having an extra blade to spin. It does provide a little better airflow over the rudder and elevons, so it feels like I have a little better control at slower speeds.
I shot this video, I apologize for the angle of it, I was wearing glasses I don't normally wear when I use this head cam and I think they got under the strap and threw off the angle of the camera :/
Unfortunately, these motors are becoming harder to find, the market currently seems to be flooded with the 2212/5T 2700 motors which are about 10-15% less powerful.
I will be sending an e-mail to Deal Extreme to ask if they have changed the motor and not updated the pictures and info. Perhaps it has just been a bad production run, but since we list them on our parts list, I would like to find out what is happening. Additionally, the black and silver motor we list from them has been sold out for a couple months now.
Although I have never purchased from these vendors, so do so at your own risk, I did find motors with the specs of all the other 2212/6 2700 motors I have used from Fasttech and HiModel. While I am waiting for an answer from Deal Extreme, I will pick up one of these motors to try.
